I've suddenly started having a problem with one of our new ASROck net top boxes, whereby if you plug the optical mouse into it...it just switches off. Power gone.

If you unplug the mouse, unplug the power lead, plug the power lead back in... it boots up again.

Could it be a faulty mouse?

Wasn't there a problem with certain chipsets after XP SP3 was released, causing reboots when a USB device is plugged in? It could be a remnant of this?

have you tried on different ports? My daughters laptop does this on one port when you plug anything into it

I did try the others...it seems to be when i plug the mouse into ANY of the ports- when the other 3 devices are plugged in. There are something like 7 usb ports on it so i can't see how it would be a problem plugging lots of devices in either... gonna try the mouse...

Try the mouse on another computer?
