Hiding Exchange contacts

I have setup a new Exchange 2007 address lists and i have started to add new contacts into it. But how do i stop them from showing within the default global address list. If i select hide from address list the contact is not visible in the default GAL and the address list.

Are you talking about distribution groups? If so, in the properties for the group you can tick the box to hide it. The individual mailbox user is not affected by this and they'll still display.

No i would like to hide the individual mailboxes if possible

We use this to separate students from school contacts. Only thing to keep in mind is I have heard this will not be supported in Exchange 2010.
