altecsole Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 I'm trying to install Racing Academy from NestFuturelab, but I'm having some problems getting it to run. Has anybody else installed this software?
Dos_Box Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Errrm. Your link points to Microsofts' homepage.
Ric_ Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 @Dos_Box: No it doesn't... it simply doesn't work!
Dos_Box Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 I've installed it here and it's fine. The sound effects are nice. If you like clicks. What are the install problems you are having?
altecsole Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 The program won't start. It's a problem to do with direct3D - it complains at startup. DirectX 9.0c is installed and direct3D test works in dxdiag.exe. Sorry about the mangled url I posted.
tarquel Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 have you tried it on more than one pc? i.e. on a different model to the one you tried it on I've found programs in the past *coughs "kudos" hehe* that refuse to install on a networked pc, especially when using folder redirection for the Start Menu in some cases. Odd though about a direct3D error. Have you tried updating the gfx drivers too? Cheers N.
russdev Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 kudos dont use it now but i just phone and say coming over to smack around ear if dont help me solve the problem (offices are about 10 min walk from here) russ
E1uSiV3 Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 A bit off topic, but ive got a network installation of kudos 5 running perfectly, with folder redirection... all i did was completely ignore the instructions and do it my own way and it worked (nearly) first time, i just needed an update from CASCAiDs website and to set some manual folder perms on the userdata folder.... As for the Direct3D error, could you post what it actualyl says, try narrow down the problem.
mrtechsystems Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Update the Direct X 9c As for Kudos 5 Works well here with folder redirecton
tarquel Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 still waiting for this years kudos from powys' careers dept..... *whistles to himself* how similar to last years version is it? I ended up making a tidy install for it if its similar - same process will work - shall make ya a copy of the script and info on what to do if folk are interested ta, Nath
