SYNACK Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Unless you are using bitlocker on these PCs there is a limited benifit to using the two partition setup anyway. You should be able to install to a single all inclusive partition by installing fresh and manually creating a partition that takes up the whole drive. Windows will warn that certain features, bitlocker won't function correctly and will ask you if you want it to fix it, cancel this prompt and it should install to one partition from what I have read.

I've not been trying to make two partitions anyway and I will need Bitlocker on my laptops (it's one of the reasons for moving to 7!). As an aside... my workstation decided to go West whilst I was at lunch today so a nice man from Sun is bringing me a new mobo at 11am tomorow

I've read a few threads on there already but nothing of too much help My latest brainwave is to use SCCM to wipe the disk of partitions and then use the Unattend.xml to partition the disk and assign the drive letters. This is ongoing though because I'm a busy chap!
Ric_ Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 I think I found my problem... firstly, I am an idiot Secondly, I had told SCCM to use the install.wim from the ISO as an Operating System Image... as opposed to using an Operating System Install Package like you are supposed to do. Of course, my life is never simple so something else has gone wrong but that can be kept for another post!

hilmarusd Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 You have to do a "Build and Capture" the image as the one pulled directly off the DVD installs to drive D: by default. Once you install, then capture the image using SCCM or MDT, you can then redploy that captured image and it'll do it the right way (to drive C:).

I found the options in the Task Sequence for the task i use to Deploy a previously captured image. It is located under the Apply Operating System task Just out of interest i also found by default the task will do a full drive format, i changed the setting to only a quick format and changed the volume name from Default also Not sure how relevant this is now but hope it helps Thanks

Up on my blog pages, Ive posted my Build and Capture and also my Deployment sequences for my Laptops (including bitlocker). I know they go over what you need, but I dont have the problem you have been looking at.
