cookie_monster Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) Has anyone successfully packaged Google Earth and deployed with GP? I've been asked to install it on multiple PC's. I can see people have tried but the comments look like it wasn't 100% sucessfull. http://www.packagedeploy.com/packages/deploying-google-earth-43-finding-the-msi.html Edited February 20, 2010 by cookie_monster
denon101 Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Michael from Logistix has created a package. Not tried it myself, but you can download it here 1
AngryTechnician Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I deployed version 5 using pretty much the method you linked to (i.e. using the Google MSI). Made a few alterations with a transform to suppress some shortcuts and disable auto-updates, but there was no special trick to it, it installed fine.
Mr.Ben Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I've also done this with version 5 - and it worked perfectly!
Cache Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Yeah, I followed same steps in that article for version 5 and it worked perfectly.
Michael Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I have indeed created a package with the latest Google Earth and it deploys no problems. I edited the MSI as there was a language compatibility issue Active Directory didn't like, but it does deploy absolutely fine now 1

Michael Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 It does store data in the roaming profile, but you're talking around 30KB worth of data. I think it's more to do with user preferences than anything else.
