Spam!

Just been reading some of our stats.

 

Last month, 75.2 million email messages were sent to our domain. Of those, just 3.2 million were allowed through spam filtering (Mail Marshal) which is just over 4%

 

The spam filtering is good but the infrastructure which is being wasted so that just 4% of email can be delivered is frightening! How long before we're throwing away 99% of all email??

 

(The figures are actually far worse for the sub-domains that we no longer use but still accept email for "just in case" -for example, 99.9% of email sent to the maths sub-domain was removed as spam!)

I know exactly where your coming from, our stats for the last 28 days are:

 

43,768 - 92% of emails classed as SPAM

3,886 - 8% of emails classed as legitimate

Yeh I have similar on domains that I manage, they usually run around 85+% a month spam. Its scary just think how much we would save on power to deal with all that spam if it just stopped.

We are probably somewhere close to James' figures. I can't get the stats on my phone but I'll look tomorrow.

 

Quite glad we have such good detection software. Keeps most of the junk out.

Thats because you don't use them anymore... A humans smart enough to just stop sending to them... the bots still think it's there any carry on spamming it...
