itguy22 Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Good morning all, forgive me if I am being a bit dim. Is it possible to universally change all power settings (for example make the computer stay on all the time) for all users on a Windows XP Profesional. Cheers, Itguy22
witch Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Depends what server you have. You can do it (I think) in 2008 using policies and preferences but I am not sure in earlier versions

soveryapt Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I use a couple of reg entries placed at startup and login via GPO that seem to do the trick .. the only thing is hoping that the computers have a standard set up in the Power Config so that the number in the reg entries matches up to the Always On setting: Startup: REGEDIT4 [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\PowerCfg] "CurrentPowerPolicy"="3" Login: REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg] "CurrentPowerPolicy"="3" That may (or may not) be of some use ..
Guest TheLibrarian Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I didn't ever get round to trying this, however it is supposed to work. EZ GPO : ENERGY STAR
chazzy2501 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I use the EZ Energy star power software which for XP machines works great. But even if your on a 2000/2003 domain as long as you have a vista workstation you can set power preferences using the client side extensions for your vista and xp users.
