mossj Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Prison Inmates Get Refund On TV Charges - Yahoo! News UK Wonder who pays there indivdual TV Licences.... Or do they need one? I would hope each cell has a lockable door...
CSNM-Carl Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I wonder if they can have Sky+ HD for an extra £1?
EduTech Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 There now the richest inmates - at least they now have loads more money to spend on.. .. ... ... ??? what do you get in a prison ??? lol
Michael Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Hmm I was under the impression TV licenses were per site or per address, now obviously each cell is not a different address. I think it's a con they're being charged 50p or £1 a week.

When I was at uni living in a shared house, the TV licensing people wanted a licence per lockable room - even if the address for all tenants was the same. So it looks like this is what they've done with the inmates. I guess now if students don't have a telly and just use iplayer and the like, they are still required to buy a licence. However it will be harder for them to prove I'll bet.

(as long as the stay clear of the Live TV section). They do however to use IPTV (which we now supply to most of our 5000 odd students).. As for students... it's got to the point that new accommodation doesn't actually have aerial sockets in the spec... as they almost all exclusivly use BBC Iplayer and the like. p.s It's per lockable room (with a TV in it), in shared accommodation...
