SimpleSi Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Just launching my latest site for a school on Monday. St Anne's Catholic Primary School Leyland Would appreciate a quick glance and feedback if something doesn't look OK Ta Simon
beeswax Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 In both FF and IE the main content section goes beyond the header and footer on the right hand side (see attached image). Personally I wouldn't use black as a background colour in this situation.
SimpleSi Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 In both FF and IE the main content section goes beyond the header and footer on the right hand side (see attached image) Ta - I'd put a table in one of the modules and it was pushing it across . Personally I wouldn't use black as a background colour in this situation. Of course - didn't change this from last site - I'll bet you've got one of them fancy monitors that do better than 1024x768 - I've done a quick change to slighty blue tinge Ta very much Simon
p858snake Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 *Goes and gets my design glasses out and a red marking pen* Header: * Site header text shouldn't need to be contained within the image.... Navagational menu: * Top navigational menu would be a lot nicer centred Information Box: * Standardise the Icon pack you use and sizes * Text should be aligned so it starts in the same positions Content Area: * E-Safety flash file is streached and therefore pixelated Footer: * Compression visible in the "Activemark 2008" logo * "Saint Mary's RC Parish Church" logo is stretched and therefore pixelated. * Text should be a darker colour Page Source: * Why are you even using tables...... *hiss*
SimpleSi Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 *Goes and gets my design glasses out and a red marking pen* uh oh Header: * Site header text shouldn't need to be contained within the image.... Eh - OK (This is harsher marking than daughters AS ICT ;lol:) Navagational menu: * Top navigational menu would be a lot nicer centred Do you mean the gaps on either side should be same width or the text isn't vertically centered Information Box: * Standardise the Icon pack you use and sizes Icon pack??? * Text should be aligned so it starts in the same positions Agreed - on my todo list already Content Area: * E-Safety flash file is streached and therefore pixelated Ta - i just used editor to insert the file I thought it looked bad as well but I just thought it was a bad souece file- on inspection it is sized at 178x225 so I've manually adjusted width/height in source Footer: * Compression visible in the "Activemark 2008" logo * "Saint Mary's RC Parish Church" logo is stretched and therefore pixelated. * Text should be a darker colour Now your getting picky Page Source: * Why are you even using tables...... *hiss* Are you some sort of Win7/Iphone fanboy - tables just work without a degree in web design - your lucky I didn't ask you to rate my old Word/Frames based site
CSNM-Carl Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I've forgot what the primary colours are, please can you remind me? The blue on yellow really hurts my eyes.
p858snake Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Primary Colours: Red, Yellow and Blue I will just leave these here: * Color Theory for Designers, Part 1: The Meaning of Color - Smashing Magazine * Color Theory For Designers, Part 2: Understanding Concepts And Terminology - Smashing Magazine
SimpleSi Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 I've forgot what the primary colours are, please can you remind me? The blue on yellow really hurts my eyes. Its for a PRIMARY School :lol; You must have your brightness turned up too much If you want less eye strain - try St Leonards CE Primary School (I tried to tell the head that bright blue doesn't work on a website but he said - that's our colour I developed this site 18 months ago and its taken this long to get him to sign off and launch!!! ) Primary Colours: Red, Yellow and Blue You don't want to get into an argument over whats a primary colour with a Broadcast Engineer who's turned ICT tech - look at my Avatar regards Simon
