yes i have.

spoke to sims and was told that they had not even started testing on it. as 2008 r2 had already been installed and configured we did not want to have to reinstall the OS. sims advised that it should be okay running r2 but any severe problems then worst case scenario would be to rebuild the server to 2008.

seems to run fine for us ...

I'm building mine and I'm going with 2008.

Just don't fancy a full server reinstall later on down the line if there is a problem..

We're undertaking a completely fresh install (as we're moving from CMIS to SIMS).

Although our Capita project manager advised us that 2008 R2 wasn't supported just yet and to stick with 2008, I installed it initially for "pooh and giggles" to see what would happen.

And it just worked - so we have stuck with it for now. That said, we have our SIMS directory and database hosted on a HP MSA array connected to the back of the server so if the worst comes to the worst, we can detach the database and rebuild the server with 2008 and SQL Server in a couple of hours with the SIMS stuff safely out of the way and ready to go straight back on when we're done.

I'm glad I found this thread though - I was about to post up asking the exact same thing! :D

Got mine running on R2 now in a Hyper-V

Stuck the Sims directory and the DB files in a VHD so if I need to rebuild.. I can just use that... love Hyper-V :)

Well that's good news. I've got a 2K3 server at the minute that I'm planning to upgrade to 2K8 R2 at easter. Follwoing that it's the migration to SQL 2008 in the summer!

According to the chelmsford office, those running sims on a 64bit server will have to upgrade to 2008R2 by november for the winter 2010 updates....

came as a shock to me i tell you!

You sure that they're not talking about SQL 2008? We get supported by Bedford and last time I spoke with them, they didn't have a time frame :(

Anyone know when Capita will be supporting R2? I'm planning to move Sims and would like it supported before the move.

Don't know, however I would like to know that too... If we're going to upgrade to SQL 2008, then we might as well upgrade the server at the same time :)
