Ive tried real alternative and the latest reap player basic.

 

Neither can play these files.

 

Can anyone confirm if they are able to play these files please and if so what software.

Could you download and convert them to MP3? Have to say that I haven't found a satisfactory alternative for BBC files, which is pain.

When I click on the text on the page I am prompted to save the file, probably because I've set my browser to do that. You could right click the text and Save the link as ... Not got the converter to hand as it's on my machine at work, but a quick Google should bring up some free converters (that's if you can find a site to trust)

Actually, the file it downloads is just a 1kb file with text in it

VLC was the first thing i tried... Its not working

Are you trying to access them from behind a proxy by any chance? It may not like the file formats/file protocols or something silly like that.

Have you got the K-Lite codecs installed? Media Player Classic plays them here.

That's very odd as I've just done the same and the file is playing fine in VLC. Is it connections then?

proxy is a good point - playing Real Audio through even a Socks proxy is often problematic.

 

Just to confirm, I can use VLC to open the files but I'm not using a proxy. Weirdly, I can't get them to play with Real Player (we have the Enterprise version here which ought to work ...)

Yes i have found the same problem with realplayer gold not playing the files but have played them on VLC, very strange.

 

At the moment I am in the process of converting them for Rabbie to MP3 which is not as straight forward as it seems.
