Cloning Windows 7?

Anyone done it, if so did you need to go through a specific process to get it to clone, mine just crashes after cloning.

What product are you using to clone? We've used FOG here to clone W7 with only occasional problems... you need to remember to do a multiple partition clone as W7 creates two partitions on the disk rather than Xp's one...

done a couple of compaq 610's at home (the school they are for 2003 server will not take sp2 just bombs and destroys the raid array) so on my test rig set up wds and a win7pe win file Win7PE with Winbuilder 74 & 76 copied ghost 11.5 into the wim file and dumped a pre and post syspreped image to a usb hard drive (it started ok on network but bombed out at 15% if i had to guess it diddnt like the network drivers but as i only had 2 pcs to clone i just gave up and used a usb hdd)

We have use Ghost but also i have use clonezilla which is free.

I used Clonezilla, as the version of Ghost that was available (8) wasn't up to the job. No problems so far...

Yep, it's Windows Recovery Environment, I tried to image Windows 7 as single partition once or twice and it doesn't like not having the WinRE partition with it!

i wondered what that was i dont recall that being created on my home pcs but meh its 100mb who cares lol and i always do drive rather than partition image

The 100mb partition is for bit locker, we did not intend using it so did win7 on one partition. The trick being when you install your reference image you delete all partitions and when it asks you to create partitions you click cancel, it then does not create that extra partition. Bitlocker sounds good but we went with server 2008 r2 standard and win 7 pro for clients so bitlocker is not an option, I guess the partitions are created on the off chance you are going to install win 7 enterprise. Like the sound of bitlocker though for laptop/data security.
