Not excellent news. As far as "opening up the system", like the PS, PS2, Xbox, 360 and pretty much every console hack this will be mostly used for piracy and cheating.

His blog is here: Unreleased PS3 hack

The HD was decrypted a while back and access to the BR drive is possible. swissknife can already dump bluerays using 'OtherOS' on a fat PS3. This is perhaps why 'Other OS' (linux) was removed from the slim.

Be interesting to see if he has access below the hypervisor.

tbf when a console is cracked these days you have 2 choices - play offline with copies, or play online with real games. Thousands of 360 owners found that out the hard way, and theres no reason the PS3 will be any different, they'll end up banning online play to people with modded consoles

So the attraction is a lot less - unless you can afford 2 consoles (or hate online games)

I think it is bad news for the PS3 look what happened to the psp no one brought out any decent games for 2 years. just shovel ware.

Just as the PS3 was gathering a head of steam with some great releases and half decent firmware upgrades

3 years to be hacked is pretty good and to be honest it is going to be a while before we see something usable happen with this

Whats the betting that sony is going to release a firmware update soon.

Time for some MW2.............
