tech_guy Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 As Mattx has recommended - there's the excellent YawCam - great bit of software.
mattx Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) My setup - [ for Little Miss's benifit ] Link to 5 quid cam to follow.......... Got the cam from here: http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/powerseller-36597__W0QQ_armrsZ1 But he does not have any at the moment by the looks of it - so just search: http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=infrared+webcam&_sacat=0&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_dmpt=UK_CCTV&_odkw=infrared+camera&_osacat=0 If you get stuck with setting up Yawcam, let us know. Myself or someone else on here will help - it's easy to setup. And loads will pop up. The infared setup is very good on these cheap things - I used it last year with the bird box of blue tits at the school - check out: http://www.youtube.com/mattx27 And look at the short clips of movies I made with it of the chicks. [ You will have to go through my crap of uploaded vids....] BTW - I've been drinking ever since I got home so at the moment I am rather hyper..... Edited January 21, 2010 by mattx 1
laserblazer Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 If you can't set the odometer to the cage wheel then divide the cage wheel diameter by the odometer wheel size setting and then multiply by the odometer reading. 1

Little-Miss Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 tee hee! He's fast asleep on my shoulder at the moment!
Michael Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I like the picture of the hedgehog. Very sweet, funny looking face, just like the kids at school I have seen portable cameras which have motion detection built in, so this can save having hours of video with nothing to see. Typically they're used in bird boxes, but should be suitable for a cage too.
dhicks Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Link to 5 quid cam to follow... I've had some webcams off eBay, but found they had driver software that pops up annoying messages ("web cam is plugged in", "web cam is now recording") the whole time. The £8 (no microphone) or £10 (with microphone) cameras from Currys / PC World work great, though - plug them into the single USB port, away you go. -- David Hicks
