Just a quickie question after setting up WSUS. After setting it up the other day and now aproving the updates for installation I noticed that it says the files for this update has not been downloaded. When are the files downloaded? Did I have to approve them before they are downloaded ready for install or should they have already been downloaded justneeding approval for install? Everything else seems to be running OK. Set one WSUS server before but don't remember reading this but may have just missed it. Can I force the download to take place instead of waiting for the scheduled time, if so how?

Yeah

When you click on "Synchronisations" in the left hand navigation pane, the Synchronisation options should then appear in the right hand pane.

In here (the right hand pane), it should say "Synchronisations now"

:)

Hope this helps

Thanks, its downloading now, just out of interest what Classification download options do people check to have downloaded i.e. security updates, service packs, drivers etc.

I download just Critical and Security patches for Windows XP...and i have them set to an Auto Approve. Therefore, i dont have to do anything :)

I get a daily e mail from my WSUS server to tell me how many computers require updates etc :) Works well for me.
