Aaron Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Hi Everyone I was wondering what software people use to monitor pupils machines on a network, we recently have set up a network running server 2008 and windows xp clients although we have no software to view screens similar to that of RM Tutor (bit expensive). Any information would be great
krisd32 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 AB tutor is worth a look, its what I use and find it very good Linky 1
Aaron Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 the price seems great am i right that you only need a license for each teacher machine that is going to view the pupils screens the pupils machine licenses are free
Danlewis3 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 We use LANSchool and all the teachers love it, Was site licensed for around the 2k mark with 3 years support and upgrades. Very easy to set up in an AD environment all of 30mins and your up and running. 1
Dom_ Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 You're right aaron, so if you're the only one that needs it, just get one license :-) 1

liteboy Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 you might want to check out Impero - version 3 was released today i think and its the dogs. Seems less hungry on resources than AB and most vendors will be happy to offer cheap deals when new versions are released.
SpuffMonkey Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 AB tutor is worth a look, its what I use and find it very good Linky seconded - its god-like

Devontechie Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 AB tutor is worth a look, its what I use and find it very good Linky I'd say have a look at AB Tutor as well.
Slewis Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 We use Vision 6 by GenevaLogic/Netop Pros: Lots of extra features. see Vision6 Classroom Management Software - Monitor & Control | Netop Cons: Cost, Resource pig (teacher part), slow to pickup client machines when started, by default classroom's are "locked" to one teacher at a time - (teacher must disconnect from the Vision classroom before it's available to others).
Aaron Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 Guys thank you very much for all your replies i installed the program iTACL to take a look really because it was free and due to budget constraints that i am sure we are all getting. Its great does exactly what i need it to do staff seem to really like so far today it has stopped alot of games and things being played and more and more pupils are now realising that staff are monitoring what they are doing. Really thank you for all your replies really has been a massive help
