TronXP Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Our Junior Dept are interested in the SMART tables. Has anybody in the north east got one and would be willing for us to come and see one in action, or does anybody know of any companies who could loan us one to look at? Thanks
rad Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 they had them at Bett, I believe they had 5 there. I am sure someone will come along and tell you who has one, or even smart might be able to.
Techie101 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 These things cost around 5-6k, damn you're school must have money to burn!!! P.S any jobs going, for 6k I'll be the table.
SimpleSi Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I was told £4k3 for the one we had on the Edugeek stand. regards Simon
witch Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I was told £4k3 for the one we had on the Edugeek stand. regards Simon Shame you couldn't have seen the one on the stand at BETT. However, be warned, although we were reasonably careful with it, by the end of the week it did have a little bit of damage (dents etc). it didn't strike me as particularly robust or that interesting for the kids.
dhicks Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Our Junior Dept are interested in the SMART tables. Better just check here: do you mean the SMART table as demonstrated on the EduGeek stand at BETT last week, with a multi-touch capable LCD screen embedded into the flat surface of a coffee-table sized table. Or, do you mean one of those bottom-projected glass-topped tables, quite a bit bigger, basically a flat SMART board, as demonstrated on a couple of stands upstairs in the gallery area? -- David Hicks
russdev Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Smart tables there were 3 in BETT and 5 in country.. @witch as said to you on day things kid proof just not edugeek proof.. Russ
Gatt Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 making some enquiries about getting one (amazing how we find money for stufflike this but not for a suite of new PCs.. )
TronXP Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 Yes like you had at BETT, but like usual SMT decide after BETT that they want to look at one
TechSupp Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 We are interested in one of these for our foundation unit (but not untill next year instead of a smartboard). Got some infor through yesterday from Stone I think they were called saying the price was £4550 if I remember rightly although Smart at Bett said it would be £4399
CadlaM Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Did anyone see both the Smart Table (ubiquitous) and the (seemingly lone) MS Surface Table at Bett? Anyone got either? I like them both and have got a few people excited about them here. BUT! It strikes me that the Smart is limited to 8 major sets of applications. Sherston said they are working on a couple for it. The Surface is going into version 2, for h/w and s/w and I think it would run lots of existing apps. Anything with large icons that did not need keyboard input, so we would use our exisitng investment rather than have a limited item. Surface Ver 2 h/w looks to be much more like a table with legs than 1.0 or Smart Any views?
