Gatt Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Help!! We have ran out of smoothwall licences and are now getting the "IP Limit Exceeded" message on a number of PCs.. I know I need to buy more of them (after battling it out with SLT!! ) but.. How do I find out how many I am actually using? the counter under "System -> Licences -> Licences In Use" so I dont know how many more I need to purchase..
linkazoid Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Gatt, The counter that you have mentioned is the correct one. Ours did this a couple of months ago. A quick talk with GAV and it was sorted with an additional 100 Free licenses. Michael 1

linkazoid Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Tom: What will happen to schools that are currently about to renew? I've got the renewal email, just need to get the school to pay!
Gatt Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 Unfortunately, due to the BSF/RM Machine - I'm not sure if our licences will be renewed... which will be intereseting as we ned to renew in May.. but BSF/RM take over in September.... Have spoke to Gav & Paul - just waiting on SLT to OK the quote
tom_newton Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 linkazoid: It won't affect the price - we're just making the licencing more transparent, easy to understand, and less based on ip addresses

Watch this space Can I dare say, but suspect its not needed, but don't fix what isn't broken Net Support did that and now there product is a PITA as it needs each client manually activating on the internet...... (or did when I last used it)

(or did when I last used it) We are re-architecting the filter component anyway - the count code either needs porting, binning or changing. Given that it has scale implications, it will probably get binned and replaced with something simpler. This will be simpler for us (= costs less to write, spend more time on useful stuff) and simpler for you (less hassle for those with laptops that are wired/wireless and often lease 2 or more IPs a week).
john Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 ah right good stuff Would hate for you to move to a model based on users a-la your competitors
