Has anyone used this software for backing up Xenserver VM's?

I have and its worked great for me so far. Very simple to use, and the compression is excellent. We're running it in a pilot now, but we considering pulling the trigger.

From the look of https://www.quorumsoft.com/learnmore.php, you'll need a backup machine per metal Xen host that you want to back up, whereas the paid version allows you to back up as many hosts as you have licenses with one backup machine.

 

(yes, that's $1,200 per metal host...)

Oh!!! that's quite an 'expensive' limit for a 'FREE' product. Typical.

On the plus side, I now have a backup product for the home xen test lab.

I dunno, I think the free version is pretty generous... it can backup an unlimited number of VMs on a single xen server. I don't know how many physical servers you have to run your 6 VMs cookie, but if its only 1, then you probably don't need to pay anything. Plus, before I got a trial when I was using the free version, I could cheat a bit and temporarily move a VM I wanted to backup onto my pool master.

We have 2 physical Xenservers they'll soon host 4+ VMs each.

Is it possible to look at the backups at a filesystem level and recover a file without having to restore the entire server to something, then boot it, then get the file?
