marvin Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Just done some calculations, last month the whole school (Medium size school - 380 pupils + 60 staff) managed to print 10133 copies of paper between all of us. That is 9 printers, 13 classes. Do you think this is reasonable? Or do i need to mention this just to make everyone aware of the cost?

Top ten users for printing How much we've spent on consumables in the last month Fortunately I have the full support of my SMT to use Print Manager to manage the printing.
maniac Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Hmmm, We're not much bigger than you, secondary school, 450 students and about 30 printers. Papercut has just informed me that we've printed 22,677 pages in the last 30 days. Mike.

Whats more worrying is that I have a budget of £1000 per half term for toner. This month we've printed £1069 worth. I think it's time to revise the budget, the head will be please! We've got about 1050 on roll with about 100 staff and in the last 30 days we've printed about 41,000 pages to the 30 network printers. There's a load of non-networked printers as well (particularly in offices) so it's likely to be more like 50k pages

Done it here so I know exactly how much paper the Business Manager is wasting

We've been running it since September and we're just gathering usage data atm. I've got the go ahead to roll out print quotas to students and recharge staff printing back to departments but I wanted to ensure the levels we set were semi-reasonable
pavlovs_dog Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 We have 100 pupils and 80 staff, printing is at about 20,000 prints per month between 2 colour printers and 2 black and white. Tons of waste! Approx £12k per annum on toner.

Terrifying stuff. I swear some of them deliberately print as much as possible to wear the printer out and "earn" themselves a new one...

localzuk Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 600 kids here, about 70 staff, 18 printers (2 of them large photocopiers), 110,000 copies/prints. 6500 of them colour. That doesn't include our Riso, or a handful of local inkjet machines, which'll hit about 10k pages also in that time.

Were a 2 form entry primary. 450 kids 50 staff We limit them to 10,000 sheets of paper PER WEEK and its always used up by Friday morning this includes photocopying and printing. We have 1 colour and 1 B&W photocopier thats also attached to the network for printing.

Repographics is it's own department and other photocopiers are the Business Managers territory. I'm only concerned with laser and inkjet printers. I've stopped charging back to departments. I have the toner budget for the whole school. It looks like, based on figures reported by Papercut, departments may get their budgets top-sliced to help pay for it
