cookie_monster Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I'm going to be around Nottinghamshire over a coming weekend I'm wondering if there are any good wildlife parks, Zoo's, bird of prey sanctuaries and so on. Anyone from the Notts area have any suggestions or any better ideas of things to do? Cheers.
6Foot2 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 (edited) I am not from Nottinghamshire but there does seem to be a website just made for the job: Student discounts and offers to do in Nottingham The site is keyword searchable and despite the student reference in the title above does not seem to be limited to students alone. Maybe it's because I was searching specifically for zoos, I'm really looking for a personal recommendation from people who have been to places in the area rather than taking a gamble on a website.
russdev Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Few ideas Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve - Nottinghamshire County Council Galleries of Justice Museum | Nottingham Visitor Attraction | Crime and Punishment | Ghosts Nottingham City of Caves, VISAV site Nottingham Castle : Nottingham City Council 1
6Foot2 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 ...I'm really looking for a personal recommendation from people who have been to places in the area... In that case in, in the wise words of Duncan Bannatyne, 'For That reason I am oot' [scottish brogue obligatory]
cookie_monster Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 I was just looking at the Galleries of Justice Museum, they could be interesting.
sparkeh Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Ooh galleries of justice are good, I recommend going there.
witch Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I have been to the castle, the caves and Sherwood Forest and they were all good, especially the caves 1
Hawkeyez Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Apart from getting shot (only joking!) Wollaton Park is good for a walk, Deer, "lake" etc Plenty of Pubs in the centre, but Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is a must for all drinkers!, just down the road from the Castle. There are not really any Zoo's, mainly places such as parks (old stately homes) such as Rufford & Clumber Are you staying in Notts? Know the area much? Gary
Willott Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 The open air ice rink is open in Nottingham City Centre, I think everyone else has covered the others I can think of! If you're looking for good food and like Indian Cuisine, try Memsaab or 4550 Miles from Dehli in the City centre (though booking in advance is a necessity and it's fairly expensive... but worth it). Thai wise, there's a brilliant place in Beeston (Yod Siam). Cheers Will

Another vote here for Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem :-) Quality drinking establishment. Places for birds of prey.....try Yates if there's a hen-do in
