New GCSE coursework policy

In his speech at the Labour party conference, education secretary Alan Johnson put forward an interesting plan:

 

"As a result of the QCA's report, we will be removing all GCSE coursework from maths and stipulating that in other subjects, coursework must be supervised in classroom style conditions."

 

Now how does this stack up with the DfES policy on e-portfolios and access to work outside of school hours.

 

How the hell can they expect this to be policed?

No rm groupie just don't hate them with a passion I dislike people getting there views m based on connect 2 as cc3 and connect 2 are two different products and connect 2 was bad cc ant too bad

 

With rm if they do something bad I will say so if they do something good I will say so.

 

What will say is we often forget with rm tests the political nature of the tests if listen to edugeek podcast with ceo of rm tim does speak quite frankly (well as frankly as any ceo can). People wanted a rm to web based test a not going happen as rules from qca state that it couldn't do that not unless it could run if network went down which would have meant a web server service on each pc.

 

There is also a working version of web based test and just dosnt work very well at all?

 

But then you have added thing as Tim said "if you get it wrong questions will asked in parliament" and I wouldn't want tims job for world as fall out if test go tits up would be major.

 

Also the test software is very flexible can be used for any kind of lone test if remember rightly..

Actually although I hated parts of 2.4 and CC3 made me angry that I couldn't do everything I wanted I have to say the ICT KS3 test software was very good even when parts crashed it started up in the right place with the clock paused correctly it one of several pieces of software I am happy to use from RM. Also their hardware support is good! (And I have removed CC3 from our network so no I am not an RM groupie either )
