License cost???

We usually buy our licenses through our LA.

 

Xp /Vista License via "Select" cost approx £34 per machine.

 

I have just been informed that we cannot buy Windows 7 on select so the cost will be £140.31 per license.

 

Who/where do you guys buy yours?

Your license company is wrong.

You'll be looking about £30 per license - vendor part number is FQC-02452 - Windows 7 Professional Upgrade License (Academic - Volume License)

mb2k01 speaks the truth. You can buy the upgrade through the Select Agreement for £29+VAT from WStore

There is no full volume license, although there may be a full license at an educational price.

 

Oh, and for the OP, it may be to do with the fact that XP home licenses don't qualify for a Windows 7 upgrade, *except* for Academic licenses (http://download.microsoft.com/download/C/1/5/C1587D8B-889A-4072-977E-FD7FA63B9D36/Qualifying%20for%20Windows%20Volume%20Licensing.pdf)

 

This may be why you have a large cost, perhaps the LA has to pay more due to the above restriction and incorrectly assume you do too.

Our Select reseller does not offer subscription advantage and only offers Professional version. Does anyone use a reseller which does?

If "Subscription Advantage" is another term for "Software Assurance", then Phoenix Software do.
