CHR1S Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I have a staff laptop with an Intel WiFi Chip and Proset software, whenever I try to use Wirless Zero or the Proset software it says - Another wireless network utility is communicating with the Intel Wireless adapter. Thus I cant wrestle it back because there is no other software installed. It used to have BT broadband software but this has been removed (not by me) and there are only traces of it left such as orphan folders and links. I have tried starting the Wireless Zero service but it gets stopped pretty much immediatly and tried a driver/software reinstall. Anyone got any ideas please? Thanks Chris
CHR1S Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 There is a BT wireless Adapter configuration service still running, disabling it seems to make the Intel software think the network card is turned off!
Guest TheLibrarian Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 If you've installed the Intel Wireless Proset then that'll be what's controlling the card. At least that's how it is here. And personally I prefer the Proset, particularly if you set up administrative templates for the wireless. The joy of double click and go... There is a BT wireless Adapter configuration service still running, disabling it seems to make the Intel software think the network card is turned off! Ah, sounds like I'm way off the mark then.
CHR1S Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 @TheLibrarian - I want the proset software to control it but unfortunatly it seems the BT service isnt playing ball.
Guest TheLibrarian Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Re-install the Proset, maybe it will snatch back control?
CHR1S Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 The Intel Software thinks the card is switched off. I have got a work around for now, I have created a new local admin user with a fresh profile and that works fine. Just need to clean the existing profile out and should work fine. Thanks for your help guys
