Hightower Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Well basically they said feedback about the Mac OS was that people liked it because it was graphical and shiny. So Microsoft have tried to please Windows users by making it graphical and shiny. I wouldn't say they have 'copied' Mac's look and feel - they have merely used their market research to see what people like in an OS, and then implemented their own ideas. Fair play to M$ I say.

Not to start a flame war just my own opinion If they were MS's own ideas then the above article would not exist - you seen the AWDC videos ie [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-2C2gb6ws8]YouTube- Apple WWDC 2006-Windows Vista Copies Mac OS X[/ame] And just because they put things in different places does not mean to say that microsoft are not copying apple ( maybe they are not copying the filing system ie journalled as apposed to dumping data where ever it likes ) but the actual GUI components look more or less the same as far as I can tell. you mean to tell me microsoft has access to all that money and they couldn't come up with there own gui that is good and at the same time works without having to reference what OS X looks like ? Anyway have got to go to work now , sigh. Windows XPeeee here I come.
Hightower Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Why reinvent the wheel when you can take something that works well and make it suit? Do you think every car has it's own model of seat belt? Of course not, they all use the 3-point belt. I'm not having a go at Apple here - they obviously do something well. So well in fact that a major competitor aspires for their OS to be more like it. Is that such a bad thing?
tmcd35 Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 All I am going to say is the below http://movies.apple.com/media/us/mac/getamac/2009/apple-mvp-broken_promises-us-20091023_640x360.mov Am sure webman, mattx and co. will love ( love being the operative word ) the above advert lol I love those Mac vs PC ads! (Which MS blantly stole with their "I'm a PC campain" ). Anywho - there are some fantastic Mac vs PC vs Linux parodies out their on youtube. Sorry I can't link to any but our LEA have blocked youtube access
webman Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 LOL! ...it's built on that very stable core Vista technology That's a laugh.
mac_shinobi Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 LOL! That's a laugh. agreed Stable isn't the first word that springs to mind with Vista lol

Linux has managed it and they even have compiz which imo is brilliant - what's MS got, Aero and snap ? Ok aero and snap are ok but talk about resouce hogger - sorry what graphics cards do you need for aero to work 100% ? I know some of the aero features work on a mac mini with onboard graphics but not all of them.
Edu-IT Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 LOL! That's a laugh. I was about to pick up on this too, but I've gone one further. but it's built on that very stable core Vista technology, which is far more stable than the current Mac platform, for instance.
webman Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I was about to pick up on this too, but I've gone one further. I'd debate that. I think they're both as unstable as each other.
tmcd35 Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I'd debate that. I think they're both as unstable as each other. The most stable OS ever produced.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:FortranCardPROJ039.agr.jpg
Domino Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Comments slammed by the offical windows blog... http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/archive/2009/11/11/how-we-really-designed-the-look-and-feel-of-windows-7.aspx I imagine it'll be a fun day at redmond...
Hightower Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Linux has managed it.... Have they? Last time I checked M$ was used by more than 90% of users. Now that, my friend, is a successful product. And the last time I installed Ubuntu on my desktop I couldn't get the 'sexy' graphics to work with my graphics card, yet Windows 7 does all the 'sexy' stuff no problem.

Reminds me of the Robin Williams impersonation of Bill Gates... Monopoly? That's just a game son! I'm after world domination! 1
mossj Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Microsoft admits Mac was Windows 7 muse ? The Register So? If certain things work for one company, it's only a matter of time before there mimicked. Couldn't care less that windows 7 copied elements of mac's os, all the better for me the consumer. 1

dalsoth Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Most people use Windows. Windows is better. Although i am not entirely sure this is true but i have read that Linux has a lower share of users than Macs. In which case, surely it is either the system with the most (Windows) or least (Linux, excluding really small OS's) user share that is best. Nobody should pick the awful middle man Mac. Bin them all. That is the ugly truth!

That is the ugly truth! I'm pretty sure the high usage of Windows is mainly part to the monopoly that many people have said they have had or still have.
tmcd35 Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Wow, how to start a flame war - and I'm foolish enought to walk right into it Most people use Windows. True. Windows is better. Opinion not fact, and the sentance that could easily ignite a flame war! Personnally I believe OS X is better - but that's my opinion. Even though I'm currently running Windows 7. Mac hardware is too expensive! but i have read that Linux has a lower share of users than Macs. I'd question this and ask the source? Linux is free and millions of people have dowloaded it. I recon the installed user base of Linux is a lot higher than meny people would guess at - including Microsoft. The number using it as their primary OS may be less than OS X installs. But I think their are more Linux users in total (second OS) than OS X. But I'm guessing. Bin them all. Works for me... BeOS or AmigaOS? 1
dalsoth Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Everyone knows Macs are rubbish. The ranting every Mac owner does about everything from Apple simply proves this. My opinion, but proved correct by the masses using Windows. Simples. I do love Linux too though. Loving Windows 7 at the moment. 1

So by that logic the best artist at the moment is JLS cause they're at the top of the charts?
