Laptop Restarting

Hey Everyone,

 

We have a Samsung R710 laptop for our Deputy Head, and for some reason whenever you connect a projector, monitor etc to it, it blue screens and restarts the machine.

 

I have updated to the latest graphics drivers and even done a BIOS update, but so far nothing is working, does anyone have any suggestions???

Did you fully remove the old graphics card driver?

 

When you've connected a monitor and rebooted, try uninstalling the monitor and then re-connecting it.

Also, does it display on the external monitor once it has rebooted?

Yes I did uninstall the old Graphics card completely and then restarted then installed the New updated driver, but still no joy.

 

It does not display anything on the monitor or projector when restarting.

 

I have tried uninstalling the monitor and this has also made no difference

When you boot up the machine, (after it reboots), press F8 then choose:

 

Disable automatic restart on system failure

 

Proceed to connect the VGA cable. This will allow you to read the error message given, including a code which you can type into a search engine for more information.

 

You could try pressing F8 again at startup then choose VGA mode, so the resolution is 640 x 480. If it happens in this mode I'd say the probability is it's hardware rather than a software problem.
