rh91uk Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Hi all, A weird one here ... all the people and local network managers I have talked to can't seem to figure this one out! Our admin staff frequently print to our two photocopiers in college. This is due to the high volume of printing that they do. They have to enter in an access code so their department gets charged - but, the thing is - that access code keeps not saving! Is there anything I should look out for in GPO regarding it? mullet_man Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Are they are Canon's? You'll need to set specific settings relating to Job Accounting in the Printer Properties, we need it on so each department can print rather than every print being charged to one department. See attached.
smadison Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 We have Kyocera and Canon printers and some of the new print drivers require the codes to be put on the printers in advanced administrator settings and on the photocopier as well. If the codes are different or do not match you will run into problems.

TechSupp Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 We have a richo and a panasonic copier used as printers and we just put the code on the server in the printer properties page (sorry not at that school at the moment so can't be more specific) adn the printer is then shared out at logon via script. The code seems to be kept OK and never had a problem of it loosing it. Only way it does not keep it is when the code is not set on the server and the user has a locked profile, hence no saving of the code. Do you need to alter the permissions on the share for the printer to allow them to manage the printer?
Cache Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 The other possibility is how is the printer connected to the workstation? Is it removed and added again every logon? If so that will presumably remove the settings.
rh91uk Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 Hi all - thanks for your replies. I sorted this out by adding the printers locally to an TCP IP port - not ideal but it was only for 3 computers!
