apoth0r Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Hi Guys, Over the next few weeks I am compiling documentation for our College Moodle, what I am wondering is if people have any documentation regarding the creation of courses, general user documentation, administrative documentation or anything related. Obviously it will all be kept under the strictest of confidence, I am just enquiring about how people have gone about it. What level you write your documentation for and the wording. I hope to publish what I have done to this very forum over the coming weeks/months as an example as I'm sure many people are fed up with re-writing the wheel and I'd like to contribute something back to the cause. So if you guys have anything related to the above and would be willing to share your own work, I would be exceedingly grateful. If you could email me [email protected] with anything you have or think might help. **NOTE** This isn't at all related to my business - this is for my fulltime position at Unity College. Many Thanks in advance Stephen Pothecary
gshaw Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I'm leaning towards the idea of doing screen captures of common Moodle tasks and doing a few quick edits via Movie Maker rather than going through a rather wordy guide every time
mac_shinobi Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Maybe use something like fraps or a screen recorder and do flash video clips and put your own audio over the top of it or just leave it without any audio and get them to watch the video clips
secretlife Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I agree- Ithink you need to cater for different learning styles here by offering printable sheets but also short screencasts - I don't have permission to give you our stuff I am sorry but I have made a course with pdfs they can download and embeddeed wmv screencasts they can watch -to suit all tastes. You absolutely have to start with the lowest common denomiator and assume nothing,
rocknrollstar Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 You could use the video help files on ICT VIDEO HELP Click on Moodle at the top. Personally I think videos are a much more effective way of teaching these things. I used CAM Studio to make some tutorials on how to add content to our Joomla website, which was quicker and probably more appreciated than printed docs. Just a thought
GrumbleDook Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Tutorials and 'how I did it" using Wink2 is a good option. Have you also asked on the Moodle forums?
secretlife Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I have got some (in my personal capacity) you are welcome to have YouTube - UsingMoodle's Channelthough they are mainly either motivational or more advanced. For simple tutorials - Tomaz Lasic in OZ has done some 2 minute moodles here 2 Minute Moodles on Vimeo that are really basic and clear.
Devontechie Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I've done some basic guides for the school I used to work in but can't share them with you. Sorry. They was just screen prints with some text telling how to do things, e.g. uploading and links resources, setting up assignments, Changing Students Pages (this 1 was for the teachers). If you want any help doing any, let me know and I will see what I can do.
