Where oh where does Windows 7 save the files to, when it asks do you want to save this downloaded file? My browser is set to ask for the location but I'm not being asked. Driving me bit nuts just now as I'm re-installing all my stuff but they keep vanishing.

If you click the Start button and then your username on the start menu, you should get an explorer window in which there is a "Downloads" folder - have a look in there.

Are you using IE or Firefox?

Looked in there the folder is empty.

Both and the same thing happens.

Download something and use the search facility to find it?

Yep trying that now, but it's not finding anything that wasn't there before. Now I'm getting a bit annoyed and I was so looking forward to exploring Win7 as well. I think it might be going to "last download location" only trouble is I don't know where that is since I haven't told it to put them anywhere. It seems to be a Catch 22. Desperately trying to think what I actually downloaded first - antivirus updates - might look in there.

Don't know why but the dialogue boxes have now started working. I can now choose where the files are downloaded to, thank goodness.
