rh91uk Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Hi all, we use a mandatory profile here for the kids. At the moment, when i created the mandatory profile, i called the user "mand" (as it twas just a simple profile) ... but didnt realise/didnt think that when the initals/defualt name (please enter your name and initials etc..) to change it. Is there any way I can change this (an ini file/dat file) in the mandatory profile without having to recreate the mandatory profile. Sorry if this is the wrong forum ... too ta, thanks for your help
DrPerceptron Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 have you tried mounting the ntuser.man into regedit and searching for "mand" and changing it there? You can just take the ntuser file, mount it, change it, unmount it and shove back in the folder as if nothing happened (might need to rename it to .dat). 1
rh91uk Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 i didn't even think of that! thanks, I'll give that a go tmw.
User3204 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 What does this do ? Do you get different names for different users ? We used to have a mandatory profile for Windows 98, and I was thinking about returning to it for WIndows 7, but we always used to have the author as the same thing, when I would prefer it to be per person.
