GTK+ Versions

Do GTk+ apps install their version of GTK+ into the same directory that the program runs from or do the GTK+ files get placed in the Windows directory somewhere?

 

Also how can you tell what versions of GTK+ are installed, when I install GIMP it says 'Install GTK+ 2.16.5 but when I install Inkscape it just says 'Install GTK+ Environment' but no version number.

If you install GTK+ then your application, you should get centralised libraries - if they're bundled together it's anyone's guess.

I'm trying to work out why in some GTK+ apps windows system policy is observed and in some it isn’t. In Inkscape 0.46 you can see the C: drive but in 0.47 the option to browse drives isn't there. The same with GIMP I’m sure in an older version you couldn't browse the C: drive or Network Neighbourhood but in the new version you can.

 

Could it be GTK+ causing this or just differences in the app?

Just the way the app is written, probably.
