webman Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Would avoid at all costs. Ours bricked themselves after a year. Bad quality firmware and cheap WD disks. But ideal for door-stops. 2

pooley Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Bare in mind these do not support setting NTFS permissions on shares/files
sparkeh Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 In the interests of fairness I have been running a few of these without any problems. Agreed that there is no support for NTFS permissions (at least with my version) but they do integrate with AD to set permissions for AD groups. 1
martynbez Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 i cant find it on the insight website! you got a link?
tmcd35 Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 At the last place we had the earlier models whose firmware lacked any AD support (had to find a japanese firmware upgrade ) and the only prblem we ever had was 1 faulty hard drive. Replaced it and the RAID-5 was back up in no time. Here I've got two of these Pro II 4Tb from CPL recently (paid nearer £1k as I recall). We have a rackmount one for onsite rolling backups and the more portable tower one (pictured above) for offiste DR backups. Thus far no problems and would happily recommend them and buy more.
