pritchardavid Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Hello everyone Seems we have a problem with one of our 2003R2 Servers (A very weird problem) Most of the time when we lanch an exe for an example a installation setup file, it says it cant run it. On others we get a box saying what programe to open it in, even its a program itself Any ideas would be great, if you understand what I have wrote Thanks in advance

mac_shinobi Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 with it being R2 you haven't used the featureset of R2 to restrict the use of exe files ? If so then ensure that is setup correctly.
bossman Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 @davep000: I know this seems daft but I have seen something of this nature before and what it could be is that the temp dir where all executables are run from is full and will not run anymore EXEs. Just delete all the crap in the Temp dir and run the EXEs again and see what you get. Let me know if this solves the problem.

bossman Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 @mac_shinobi: C:WINDOWS\temp or C:temp Have only come across this once and it was quite a while ago just remembered as the symptoms seemed to fit. :-) 1
