Sophos can't find machine

I am trying to remotely install the sophos client on a machine from the Enterprise Console but the console can't find the client.

 

I have done all the usual things, the machine is on the domain, I have disabled the firewall and simple file sharing, the client can ping the server and vice versa and tried various domain admin accounts.

 

I have tried all the ways to find the client:

*"Import from AD" finds all the other unmanaged clients in AD (ditto for "Find with AD")

*"Find by IP" and "Find on the network" find all the other unmanged clients that are currently turned on.

 

Out of ideas now.

Daft question, but does the computer have an account in AD?

Try install the software at the client, from the \\server\InterChk\ESXP folder.

 

It should then show up hopefully.

I just tried the "Import from AD" and it did something different! It actually imported the whole of AD into the console.

It sounds mad but it never did that before (I swear ) it just used to add the clients to the unassigned folder. Wow this is a much better way.

 

Anyway the machine has turned up now.

Yep you can get it to sync with AD at time a given time, so any changes you make to AD are mirrored in the console.

This is the way that we do it and, for the most part, it is very successful. It occasionally fails and when it does we 'pull' the install at the client end. That usually sorts the problem. We keep an eye on the stations in the console when we re-image. We can usually pick up problematic stations at that point.
