Exchange Critical Service Failure: Rights Question

The routing service on my Exhchange 2003 server has failed. Technet says to backup my mailboxes (done) and reinstall Exchange with /disasterrecovery

 

When I try to do this, it says I do not have sufficiant rights to do so. I'm in the Domain Admin group and part of the Exchange Full admin groups. I also switched to just administrator and got the same error. What's going on? Why is it rebelling?

 

Do I need to stop all services before reinstall? Is there a better way to do get the routing service back into my current exchange setup?

Actually, here's the exact error message.

running /domainprep hasn't helped.

Alright.. found the reason. The rights aren't part of the AD groups. It's it's own thing attached to Exchange.

 

XADM: You Receive a "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services cannot be assigned" Error Message When You Perform a Disaster Recovery Operation

To work around this problem, perform any one of the following:

Delegate a user with the Exchange Full Administrator role to run the disaster recovery.

Log on as another Exchange Full Administrator to run the disaster recovery.

To log on as a user with Exchange Full Administrator permissions and delegate Exchange Full Administrator role:

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.

Right-click Exchange organization name, and then click Delegate control.

To add a user, in the Exchange Administration Delegation Wizard, click Next, and then click Add.

In the Delegate Control Window, click Browse, and then click the user account that you are adding.

In the Role list, click Exchange Full Administrator, and then click OK .

Click Next, and then click Finish.
