I am testing ESXi 4.0 but would you believe it - the onboard NIC is not supported [ Realtek ] - so am I getting the Failed to load tmp & Failed to load lvmdriver messages when going to install.

Can someone quote me a known working NIC I can install that ESXi will support ?

@mattx:

We run Broadcom net extreme 2 seem to work well.

If you want to connect to SAN then for the iscsi connection we use the Intel pro/1000 PT with toe functionality for load balancing. :)

PCI-E, PCI or PCI-X?

PCI-E I have a HP NC110T PCI Express Gigabit Server Adapter (£30)

It works with ESX 3.5, ESXi3 and Xen, not tried 4.0 but it is listed on the HCL

I can confirm it works perfectly with 4.0 :)
