Serif Application Data file size

Has anyone worked a way around the ~40MB that Serif products add to a profile that doesn't involve removing functionality (patterns/styles/whatever) in the program?

 

When contacting Serif they suggested we "buy the latest version" but couldn't offer us any guarantees (they didn't appear to know) that the problem was fixed.

 

An extra 40MB/kid for a class of 30 annoys me (mandatory profiles, but still need pulling from the network).

We ditched Serif for this very reason.

 

Can you get a trail of the latest version to try?

Probably can, I think they keep flinging free copies at DT. Why on earth they didn't just use AllUsers or Default User, I'll never know.

Try changing the "MINAPPDATA" setup property from "0" to "1". (I use an MST to do this...)

There is a solution to the issue you outline, however I do need to obtain additional information from you in order to advise you on the best way forward. We have focused on reducing app data for all recent versions of the Serif applications and a number of techniques, such as the Miniappdata route mentioned by kearton, can assist further.
