MS Excel find and replace CR+LF

Not sure if this has been asked anywhere and I googled almost everywhere.

 

I know Alt+Enter in a cell will place a CR+LF on a line but how do you use "find and replace" to place a CR+LF in a wookbook?

 

I seen solution such as Alt(010) suggested but it does not work.

Any suggestions

Odd, I've just tried it here and it worked fine.

 

You could try using alt+013, see if that gets you anywhere...

 

VBA may possibly be able to search for vbCRLF if you wished to go down that route, but I'm not sure on the fundamentals of such a scheme.

I should have added Office 2007 if this makes a diffrence! I have in the past done this but for the life of me, could not remember the key strokes. I give it another try.

Have to admit it now works.

For the record, using a laptop without a keypad was the problem. So, when the ALT key is pressed the numbers keys do not work. I didn't realise this at first.

Workaround: use num lock or use the fn key then insert in the "Find and Replace". Hold down ALT key then "010" to get CrLf.

Good and useful informations.

 

I think that a cleaner job is possible if you

Hold down ALT key then "013" , release, and Hold down ALT key then "010"

to get CrLf.

 

I suppose that if you press only ALT+"010" you get only the LF character.

(CR is the ALT+"013")

 

A tip:

because this characters are invisible (at least with my version of MS Excel),

to be sure the field in the "Find & Replace" form is empty,

you can write a random word,

double click this word with the mouse

(it will select all the word, hopefully with the invisible characters included),

press DEL.

Now you can write CR LF...
