Parental involvement programs - anything which involves the parents more, and makes it easier for them to get involved. A lot of this revolves around IT these days.

Any software automates tasks around technical support, thus making the network more stable. We may not be able to be everywhere at once... but the programs can be :)

Remote Support, Central AV/wireless systems....

Learning Gateway systems which allow parents to check on their children's attendance, behaviour and so on over the internet in (usually at least near-) real-time.

School communication systems which send text messages to parents of children who are missing from school, or e-mails, or automatically call them.

Even school e-newsletters which keep parents up to date on things which are going on, where they might just through a normal paper newsletter in the bin or never see it.

Hi Mandy, I would agree with @jamesb and say parental access technologies.

One to look at is Microsoft Sharepoint -if you haven't already

This is very high on schools agenda right now perhaps it might have something to do with the Governments 2010 parental access legislation which comes into effect next September

This might be why it is so popular right now, i would get in touch with your local Microsoft Gold Partner and ask them how are they helping schools to achieve these 2010 deadlines.

I'm in Birmingham and happy to discuss this further if you want too
