H I have been trying t install RM CC4 on Virtual PC 2007 when it gets to the partioning hard drives it hangs any one had this or have any ideas on how I can get around this ?

When I use VMWare w/ CC4 you need to set the OS type to Vista, even if you are building xp. It should work on VPC as well (it is because the build disk uses vista)

Possibly not the solution you're after, but another vote for VirtualBox here. Works great for CC3 machines, and I use it for almost all my desktop virtualisation now.

I've been told it's not the fastest performer of the various virtualisation technologies but for compatibility I can't find anything to beat it. In contrast, Virtual PC always seemed to be the pickiest about what would run on it.

Not used CC4 because it kept being pushed back (and is still being pushed back from what I hear from my old boss), but with CC3 I created a base image of windows xp, created a differentiating disk or whatever it's called and then smart-cliented it to CC3 and it worked pretty well.

Not sure whether the same process is available/would work with CC4 though.

We used a Virtual PC on CC3 to run RM Application Wizard from a 'clean workstation'. We could not do it by building from scratch but instead by installing XP from CD then using RM Smartbuild afterwards to turn it into a CC3 station.
