speckytecky Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 I have been trying various programmes (GIMP, MS Office Picture Manager, Paint) to resize images for the slideshow on our Edugeek Joomla site but haven't had any success. What's the cheap and easy way please.

Setting the pixels to 950 by 250 looks like the way I need to go but whenever I try it in the various programmes the darned things never end up as that size. They do in paint but it crops itself to the wrong area of the picture. Probably something simple I'm not doing but I can't see it from the wood for the trees!
speckytecky Posted September 8, 2009 Author Posted September 8, 2009 You first need to resize for example the image to the 950 width and then crop your image for the 250 height. That's brill. At last cracked that and have my photo correctly rezized. I then renamed it to 2.jpg and FTP'd it to the folder where even though it had the same name it copied in as 2.jpg. Renaming the existing 2.jpg in FTP and then having a look at he site I saw it was still showing the original photos. Looking in the slideshow folder I then saw the existing 1, 2 and 3.jpg files were still the original and my new photo was now showing as 4.jpg. Mystery to me! Can one of you wizards enlighten me please.

Yes! that's what has happened - it is a Linux host; is it simply a case of deleting and renaming through FTP (Filezilla) or do I need to do something in the Admin panel?
