mattx Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I'm looking for a cheap / good lens for my Fuji S1 Pro Digital SLR Camera - anyone got some ideas......? I lost the one it came with.....
SteveBentley Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Looks like the Fuji SLRs are compatible with certain Nikkon fit lenses, so you have quite a lot of options. Should be possibilities on eBay, or places like Second hand cameras, camera part exchange, digital cameras UK, used cameras, photographic shops, England or pixmania 1
Busybub Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 If you're interested in 50mm effective focal length you need to look at the 35mm 1.8 DX lens which is made specifically for APS-C cameras
mattx Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 God, all I have found so far are lenses over 100 quid, I was hoping to get one second hand for about 50..... Will have to look a bit harder...
SteveBentley Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Somebody was flogging an old film SLR on eBay a few weeks ago with a lens which would be compatible with Sony SLRs like mine. The seller was amazed at the level of interest - I don't think they had realised that the majority of bidders were only after the lens, and weren't interested in the camera body. A decent lens isn't a cheap thing to make, and there's a thriving second hand market for them. Photography isn't a cheap hobby!
mattx Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 Now thats a good point, I have an old Pentax SLR with a ton of lenses - maybe I should flog that lot and then get a new decent lens for my Digital SLR....
capncrunch Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Or if you can get an adpater for your DSLR you can use your old lenses on it. Personally i have an Olympus OM adapter and I use old manual focus lenses. You have no auto focus and you have to manually adjust the aperture but you can get some quality glass for cheap on ebay.

I'm off to my local Jessops this weekend for this very reason - I would be surprised if my old Pentax lenses would fit on the my S1 Pro but I will give anything a go to save a few quid....
