syspreping 64bit windows 7

just recently downloaded windows 7 64bit, tried installing it on to a 64bit machine and was recieving error messages asking for the drivers for my CD drive. Because of this i had to install vista 64bit then do an upgrade. Now that i have windows 7 i would like to make an image from it. So i run my sysprep as normal and then i recieve a message of you cannot sysprep a machine thats had an upgrade, as sysprep requires a clean install.

 

So my questions are:-

 

1. How can i get my 64bit to install from scratch?

2. How can i get the sysprep to work?

That's interesting it won't let you run Sysprep! If Vista can see your DVD drive, then clearly it cannot read the Windows 7 DVD (for whatever reason).

 

You could try making a copy of the Windows 7 disc and see if your DVD drive will read this.

It reads the dvd until after the setup has started, so i boot from the disc it get to the setup then asks for my drivers.

Is it a laptop or desktop? Using an IDE or SATA cable?

Its a Desktop, Dell Optiplex 745 Ultra small Form, using SATA to connect to both HDD and DVD
