Cleaning up a mobile phone

Teenage daughter lost her mobile (a Samsung U600) just over a fortnight ago and having turned the house upside down, we completely failed to find it. We had to assume that she'd left it somewhere.

 

I found it yesterday... in the pocket of her jeans... hanging on an airing rack in our conservatory.

 

In typical teenage style her bedroom is a pit; I finally lost it with her last weekend and made her clear the layer of clothes into the washing machine.

 

Gingerly we charged it up - the battery was totally flat - and tried switching it on.

 

All credit to Samsung - the phone has been through a 30 degree wash with non-bio powder and fabric conditioner - it's a bit scratched, but it works! All she had to do was reset the time and date.

 

Maybe she'll check her pockets next time she clears her clothes into the washing machine

Yeah my mobiles seen the bottom of a few pints, the toilet ( clean water ) and bath... LG KU990 what a sturdy little phone.. I will be sad to see it go come November.

 

As for getting a teenager to clean up!! Miracles apparently can happen..... but then when will pigs actually fly.

You might have had more chance of getting through to her if the phone was bust and she couldn't afford a new one - she might take more care then.

I fear you are right.

 

When originally lost, she thought we could 'just replace it on the insurance', but learned about insurance excesses and no claims discounts and had resigned herself to saving.

 

She had been buttering up her brother to try and get his old phone as he wants to buy a new one in the next couple of weeks. Normal service (i.e.bickering) now resumed! My son saves (and earns) money as efficiently as my daughter spends it, so he can afford a phone!

Yeah, same here. Had to buy a wallet in the end so I knew where all my money was.

 

Now I just leave a snotty tissue in the pockets for old times sake hehe.
