RabbieBurns Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Ive held back for about the last however many years from getting a decent phone coz I used to lose them so much. I think now might be the time to get one and catch up with a few generations. Im not sure what I want to get, but heres what I want it to do: Be not an iphone Run slingplayer over wifi and cellular network access the internet so I can check email / facebook quite easy over wifi and cellular Make phonecalls Send Texts Have they invented one that makes a cup of tea yet? If you can give me ideas of handsets, I can look into either getting a phone here or from the UK depending on tarrifs and contacts etc....
rocknrollstar Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I'd check out Deal Summary Wifi, GPS, GPRS, free internet, free email, free texts, 200mins, unlimited calls to other 3 users, skype, £20 month. Internet usage is actually limited to 1gb a month, but haven't really come close to going over that, mainly because of the wifi that can be used at home/school. Bad point is that the headphone is 2.5mm, not the standard 3.5mm, but you can get an adaptor for 99p on ebay. Also get an 8gb miniSD card, cheap enough. 1
Sylv3r Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 The Blackberry Bold will do everything your after easy to access Facebook using the blackberry app. Will be around £35 - £45 per month with unlimted data for an 18 month contract. 1
reggiep Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 +1 for the Nokia E71 on three. I have run slingplayer on mine in the past and is great for reading and typing up emails. 1
RabbieBurns Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 they had the N71 on display over here at the weekend, is that a similar model to the E71? Looked pretty decent, although the show girls could have shown me a lump of shit and still had me admiring it. Im probably better not buying a phone on contract out here not knowing how long im gonna be able to be about, unless I can jsut buy it outright..
jamesb Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 You might want to look at the N85, its a phone rather than a smartphone but does come with a set of video cables which you can use to connect it up to a tv. It'll run slingplayer, its fine for internet so long as you're happy with using a phone keypad rather than some undersized qwerty keyboard, makes phone calls and sends texts happily.
RabbieBurns Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 It was an n97 she had, i shoulda took it and ran http://img.gsmarena.com/vv/pics/nokia/nokia-n97-00.jpg my problem is losing them.. which is why i try to keep my phone seperarate from anything else... but Ive just got myselft a mp3 player that can go on the internet, dependant on wifi networtks.. im worried that with a $400 phone, I would just lost it int the pub..
