ranj Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 just to confirm the versions which are on Technet are full versions right and not time limited?
jc1875 Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Mine bombed out @ 50% overnight Mine too Restarted and it's not too bad. Just started the download from TechNet.. getting 1300KB/s, so not too shabby really.. No Ultimate version for download yet though.. pity - would have liked to have seen it all straight away! Jumped on to work to see if it's stalled too but RDP has closed the session Downloading again and getting up to 3MB/sec but it's all over the shop. Also noticed it's a different download manager this morning. It was the transfer manager last night, and this morning it's the Akamai Download manager (on the technet downloads page, click details for Ultimate, then top downloads) 1
jc1875 Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 just to confirm the versions which are on Technet are full versions right and not time limited? Can't imagine they would be. Blog only indicates that t he RC was time limited. TechNet Plus Blog : Announcement:Win 7 RTM now available on TechNet Plus
Soulfish Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 just to confirm the versions which are on Technet are full versions right and not time limited? If you're downloading from Technet, and have a valid key (which you can get from Technet) then yeah they're the full RTM versions and shouldn't be time limited

TheScarfedOne Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Seems to be running ok at the mo - make sure you use the download manager (accessed from Top Downloads).... 500kb/s
Gatt Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 Looks like MS have been messing around... Can no longer download Pro or Ent from MSDN... and in TechNet it has been moved to "Top Downloads" so getting everything from TN now....
Dos_Box Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I had Utimate queued on the File Tranfer Manager from yesterday and it's still resuming the download. Damned Virgin and their bandwidth throttling have restricted it to less than 100Kbps anfter the first GB though. I HAVE to ditch Virgin as soon as I can. I may get 10mbps, but if you are restricted so tightly it just means you hit the limit faster. May take a look at Sky today.
Abaddon Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Running great here.. Got the Home Premium in 30 minutes, and the Ultimate in about 20...

Had trouble getting Ultimate to D/L from there - In fact it doesn't appear to be listed anywhere in MSDN - switched to TechNet and getting it no problem now
mattx Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) That's handy, I can do an up-grade and not a complete re-install - [ according to the Upgrade Advisor ] http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd446674%28WS.10%29.aspx For a laugh I'm sticking it on an ACER 3600GT Edited August 7, 2009 by mattx

jc1875 Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 That's handy, I can do an up-grade and not a complete re-install - [ according to the Upgrade Advisor ] Step-by-Step: Windows 7 Upgrade and Migration I noticed that too when I went through the install. (had to remove windows virtual server though) Shame it bombed out with unreadable source files Another coaster.
Midget Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 For people wanting to go from RC to RTM: http://windows7news.com/2009/07/28/upgrading-windows-7-rc-to-rtm/ I'm getting it from MSDN at 1.09MB/s anyone have any idea what "If you retrieved a key for the Windows 7 Beta or RC, a Windows 7 key has been provided for your convenience" means? Can we just reuse the RC key? I don't have time to actually try this on my work box atm.
Gatt Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 Yay! WAIK, Enterprise, Pro and Ultimate have downloaded
Midget Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 What's different in enterprise? Old versions of Enterprise didn't have the dialhome activation feature, is it the same in this case?
Gatt Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 Enterprise = Ultimate with KMS/MAK Keys Major features of each Windows 7 version (SKU) revealed! | Windows 7 Center
IanT Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Just downloaded and installed Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit
Gatt Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 SAme here - but 32 bit Also D/L Ultimate and Pro for other locations Running like a dream Not seeing much change since the Rc other than the wallpaper...
dalsoth Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I have a technet plus account and was wondering how many of my machines i could try Windows 7 on? I don't want to try it on a older machine i have if i run out of keys and can't try it on my main machine. I need to clonezilla that first so i don't lose anything. Wouldn't mind seeing how fast it runs on a laptop either if the keys allow.
Guest richard_s Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Looks like I will have busy time this weekend as my boss has just given me access to our TechNet account
mattx Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Lordy, it runs quite well on an old Acer 3600GT - I am shocked !!

RabbieBurns Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 my mate at uni has just told me his MSDNAA account only has the RC.... Are Uni accounts going to get the RTM too?
