FN-GM Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Downloading from MSDN as I type this Oh dam, i was looking on Volume Licensing site.
Gatt Posted August 6, 2009 Author Posted August 6, 2009 Oh dam, i was looking on Volume Licensing site. It'll be up there tomorrow - prob about the same time (6pm i think..)
Zoom7000 Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 The Technet servers are being hammered it seems. I'm only getting 300kbps~ Normally get 1Mb+ on Technet downloads!
Gatt Posted August 6, 2009 Author Posted August 6, 2009 yeah same prob with MSDN - 125KB/s at present - eta 6 hrs
jc1875 Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 (edited) Interupted at 53%, 182KB/sec Resumed but it's not shifting /Update: and we're off again. Faster download at home on my Sky ADSL than on our 100MB Janet connection at work. Edited August 6, 2009 by jc1875
rayfleming Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I suspect our servers are getting a hammering tonight! But the big fat pipe of the Interwebs appeared to run downhill to Dorset this evening, because Dave Coleman from Twynham School was first in my Twitter circle to have it downloaded from MSDNAA and installed and to get Tweetdeck back on, all before 9pm: The valedictory blog post
featured_spectre Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 according to my source at MS, they are currently having around 200'000 people downloading W7 RTM. Says it all really
rayfleming Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Is it just me that feels, given the late hour, and given that this could all wait until tomorrow, that this thread is the opposite of the "Do you work in your lunch break?" question on another thread?
Gatt Posted August 6, 2009 Author Posted August 6, 2009 MSDNAA - 38%, anywhere from 4 to 5 hrs ETA @ 80KB/s on a 6Mb d/l

Whats that? Another 3% downloaded and it's cut off again At this rate, Win7SP1 will be out before I've got it downloaded

mattx Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 @mattx - YES! its miles better and faster than Vista! You had better be right.... :-) I have it as a Virtual PC at the moment but only really played with it for a few hours. I bet it won't go over the top - is it going to be a complete re-install....if so I had better put a day aside for it.
FN-GM Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I bet it won't go over the top - is it going to be a complete re-install....if so I had better put a day aside for it. I have bee told that 7 has no upgrade option at all and you have to wipe the drive and start again.
CyberNerd Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I have bee told that 7 has no upgrade option at all and you have to wipe the drive and start again. I'm sure you can fit it ontop of a stable virtual system ;0 this is for _testing_ - right?
Trapper Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Installed x64 on my main desktop at home. Fresh install took about 30 minutes. Luckily I ran a Ghost over the weekend so I do not have to download 140GB from Steam again. Looks very, very nice. Upgrading my lappy now.
