[ghost] Ghost is unable to see parts of the network unless its in that room

I know someone has posted this before but its an old post and the solution didnt work for me so I thought i'd try again. The problem is that symantec ghost only picks up certain rooms if its plugged into that room/switch and there are a group of rooms, all on the same switch, that cannot connect even if the server is plugged into the switch. I have tried turning spanning tree protocol off on all switches (hp procurve) but still nothing. This all worked fine till last year, but we made no changes to ghost or the network, I'm hoping not to have to cary 70 pc's to the other side of the school.

Check the switch logs. Are they complaining about anything when Ghost sessions are in progress?

Single vlan/subnet?

Its a single vlan, and i cant find anything wrong in the switch logs

 

I say i turned off spanning tree protocol, but I have never used it before, I just changed STP enabled to off, I dont know if any other settings need to be changed.

One morething, if i cant solve it by half past I need to carry them to another location.

If STP is kicking in, it will say so in the switch logs.

Is snoop mode enabled in Multicast filter?

Have you tried resetting the switch?

We found that some of our switches had broadcasting disabled on their ports - which interfered with Ghost fairly significantly.

 

Another thing though - we found it easier to carry the Ghost server to the room to be ghosted rather than carry all the machines back and forth. (This server is only a physically small NAS box with all of our images stored on it.)

Unfortunatly with one switch even plugging our ghost machine into it doesnt work. I think broadcasting is enabled, still trying to find manuals online, unfortuntaly im new to switch configuration

Dont know, where would i find out?

Should be some sort of web interface or you could telnet in to do the same. You'd need to know the ip address of the switch for both and maybe have a copy of the manual handy.

on 2600 series procurves the command is:

 

vlan  ip igmp

I can telnet into the switches, but still looking for the manuals i tried the igmp comand but nothing appears to happen
