I know someone has posted this before but its an old post and the solution didnt work for me so I thought i'd try again. The problem is that symantec ghost only picks up certain rooms if its plugged into that room/switch and there are a group of rooms, all on the same switch, that cannot connect even if the server is plugged into the switch. I have tried turning spanning tree protocol off on all switches (hp procurve) but still nothing. This all worked fine till last year, but we made no changes to ghost or the network, I'm hoping not to have to cary 70 pc's to the other side of the school.

I know this an old post, but I thought i'd try it before re-posting the same question. We are having the same problem with ghost picking up certain rooms only if its plugged in there, it wont pick one room even when plugged in there. I have tried turning spanning tree protocol off on all switches (hp procurve) but still nothing. I'm hoping not to have to cary 35 pc's to the other side of the school.

Yeah both servers are dns servers. i ran netdiag which returned the error: warning cannot find a primary authoritative dns server for the name admin08.administration etc. [error timeout] what should i look for in the dns records? yesterday i got: The DNS server has encountered a critical error from the Active Directory. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly. The extended error debug information (which may be empty) is "". The event data contains the error. -

any advice on dc promotion and replication would help, drawing a blank with how too's and microsoft help and support. -
We are in the middle of moving over to a new PDC, but are having some GC issues. I have moved all the roles over, and everything seamed to be replicating fine, all that was left to do was to promote it to a global catalogue. I ticked the check box and left it over the weekend, but it’s still waiting to be promoted. I have checked event viewer and got the following error Promotion of this domain controller to a global catalogue will be delayed for the following interval. 30 mins I have done repadmin /showrepl with the error 1815 kcc could not add this replica link due to error. I have never done this before and am really confused any help would be appreciated

The powers that be decided to do the new timetable the other day, but were worried they might make a mess of it so wanted a backup of the mornings work on the timetable before finishing it off. We usually only stop sims for backup at night, or just after everyone has left.
-
I need to back up sims in the middle of the day, but we have people logged in. is there a way to either safely log people off, or see who is logged on. i know there is a way to see who is logged on, but i dont know how.

downloaded and extracted php to c:\php added C:\PHP to my path. in Environment Variables under system variables In iis: Added New Web Service Extension .PHP with C:\PHP\PHP5ISAPI.DLL to Required Files On Web Sites, added an Application Extension: C:\PHP\PHP5ISAPI.DLL as Executable and .PHP as Extension. In ISS the dll for .php was allready there, but in a different folder, which i forgot to make a note of before i replaced it with the new one in c:\php. then it stopped working.

LTO2 on our four main servers, running symantec backup exec, we have sql on all four. Tapes for mon-thurs, end of week1-week4 and end of month1-month13. (month13 is important, it freaks people out) its a lot of tape,84!, but does bring peace of mind.

Turn it off and on? First things i did.

I tried "I just got over the same situation w/the help of Microsoft Tech support and one of the reasons our GUI wasn't displaying was because the ISAPI filter, "EXCHFILT.dll" wasn't loaded correctly for our default web site. Specifically, if you open "administrative tools/Internet Services Manager" and right-click on your default website, click on properties and then select the "ISAPI Filters" tab at the top of the "default web site properties" window you will see the filter called "EXCHFILT.dll" which can be ound in the Program Files\EXCHSRVR folder. Hope this helps to enlighten. The file wasnt there, got a copy and tried it but still nothing. and we allready have exchange sp1 installed.

we dont use moodle for email, I was just looking into it. if i go directly, it just brings up a text version of my email, with inbox, sent and all my folders, which i can access. through outlook, email works fine too. directory browsing appears to be off.
-
as far as i know i havent turned it on no. where would i find it if i had? Re-installed PHP, and did a couple of changes in IIS to run moodle, cant remember off the top of my head, will check.
