cookie_monster Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 About bl**dy time i've been using it since the C64 was around (well it feels like it) typical OSS project how many pre release versions can you have. Well they got there at last and I do like it
srochford Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Pretty sure it does a silent install with a switch so if you need an MSI you can just use the MSI wrapper wizard to make it go. It doesn't actually need installing - you can just copy the files into a folder and it works. 1
cookie_monster Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I used WinInstall and it creates a very basic clean msi of it and it deploys very well. Steve, if you just install it to a folder on the network do you need a script to set file associations? Cheers. 1

The silent install switch is just /S (case sensitive) and that will then give you the standard set of file associations.
mac_shinobi Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 if you already know how to create or manually make an MSI then ignore this but there is advanced installer ( free edition ) Free Windows Installer - MSI Installer Tool which you can use to make an msi from an exe ( I believe ) and you may be able to use that in group policy to distribute software
